PINK OYSTER SPAWN is 1 kg of mycelium for growing your own mushrooms at home.<\/h5>\n

Pink oyster mushrooms grow naturally in tropical and subtropical climates on bamboo, rubber trees, and palms.<\/p>\n

In Estonia, it’s ideal for growing in greenhouse cucumber or tomato beds topped with a layer of straw pellet mulch. Pink oyster mushrooms tolerate high temperatures and can colonize a straw pellet bed very quickly. <\/p>\n

Pink oyster is a very, very tasty mushroom. When fried, it has almost no mushroom flavor and tastes more like meat or chicken. It has a thin texture and is easy to prepare\u2014just a quick saut\u00e9 in butter with a bit of salt, and it’s ready. Delicious! <\/p>\n

PREPARING THE BED:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • the best time to start the bed is after the night frosts are over, when tomatoes are happy in the greenhouse; until then, keep the spawn in the coolest place at room temperature.<\/li>\n
  • take an unopened bag of straw pellets and open it for the first time. Use one 15 kg bag of pellets and 1 kg of spawn. Get pellets here: https:\/\/mycoland.ee\/toode\/pohupellet\/ <\/li>\n
  • spread a third of the pellets evenly in the bed as mulch for tomatoes or cucumbers<\/li>\n
  • water generously; the pellets will expand at least threefold<\/li>\n
  • open the spawn bag for the first time<\/li>\n
  • break up any hard clumps of spawn with clean hands<\/li>\n
  • spread half of the bag evenly into the straw pellet bed<\/li>\n
  • spread another portion of pellets into the bed and water generously again<\/li>\n
  • spread another layer of spawn<\/li>\n
  • spread the final layer of pellets and water generously.<\/li>\n
  • In the following days, water daily using the finest mist setting on your hose, at least enough to moisten the top layer, even if the rest of the greenhouse doesn’t need watering yet.<\/li>\n
  • The first mushroom pins will appear in about 10 days<\/li>\n
  • The first harvest will be ready about 5 days after that. <\/li>\n
  • Harvest your crop and continue misting; the same bed can produce several more harvests until the frost.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    NB! Do not mix the pellets with soil, as they will use up the nitrogen in the soil, leaving the plants with too little. However, the pellets make excellent compost\u2014just collect them from the bed in autumn and compost them in a separate pile. <\/p>\n

    NB! Do not refrigerate pink oyster spawn; keep it in the coolest place at room temperature until you’re ready to start the bed.<\/p>\n
